Google Bard is now Google Gemini

Google Bard, launched last year following other Generative AI chatbot experiences such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT, has been rebranded to Gemini.

In their blog post, Google say that they have simply renamed the chatbot to the same name of their AI Model, Gemini.

Google Gemini is now also available on your mobile phone via Google Assistant.

With a Google personal account, you can also subscribe to Google Gemini Advanced through a premium Google Go Premium subscription for £18.99 a month with a free 2 month trial.

If you have a Google Business account, you can't currently subscribe to Google Gemini Advanced.

What does this mean for you?

Google have stated that this more of a rebrand exercise than anything else. They did however use the change to announce a paid for level to Gemini (Gemini Advanced) in the form of a Google Go Premium plan.

So if you use Google Bard, the only thing that will change is that you will now be using Google Gemini.

Is it any good?

Despite the rather messy press release at the time, I have used Bard and it is a very capable chatbot. We all know AI isn't perfect and probably never will be, but we can all agree on the fact that it is incredibly powerful and will change the way we work and play.

That can only mean that Gemini will be just as powerful if not more.

You can check out Google Gemini now.
